Homemade Bolognese sauce (alcohol-free).

I will tell you one thing friends. Once you try this Bolognese recipe you will never search for another one. Ever! And God saves your hearth from buying a Bolognese sauce in the grocery store, yuck.

And why I am so damn confident? Because this recipe always turns out well, each time it tastes delicious, and my family loves it 🙂 So do I 🙂 To make it at home you need few basic ingredients, a good quality minced meat, and around 30 minutes of your time. Also, I skipped the wine. It definitely adds a specific taste to the real Bolognese but it is not mandatory. Anyhow, you will feel the taste without the wine once you will make it by yourself. 🙂

Directions

  1. Peel and finely chop the shallots, peel and dice the carrots into smaller cubes, and chop the green celery.
  2. Meanwhile, heat up a deeper saucepan and add the butter and olive oil. Add the shallots and roast for 3-4 minutes. Then add the carrots and cook for several minutes. Once the carrots are “medium done” add the chopped celery and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  3. Place in the minced meat, break up into smaller pieces and roast until it will turn brown from all the sides, then lower the heat to minimum and pour in the tomato passata and the tomato puree. Stir well.
  4. Cook uncovered for 15 minutes. Season with salt to taste.
  5. Serve with wholewheat spaghetti and grated Parmesan on top.
  6. Enjoy 🙂

Recipe Notes

When I make Bolognese I like to roast the shallots on butter combined with olive oil. This combination gives it an interesting flavor. Also, I do not use red wine in my recipe because I do not see it as necessary.
