This easy homemade Bolognese sauce recipe is one of my favorite dishes. Once you will try it too, you will never want to search for another one. Ever! And God saves your hearth from buying a Bolognese sauce in the grocery store, yuck. It contains too many ingredients which are not needed, especially a lot of refined sugar.

And why I am so damn confident? Because this recipe always turns out well, each time it tastes delicious, and my family loves it 🙂 So do I 🙂 To make it at home you need few basic ingredients, a good quality minced meat, and around 30 minutes of your time. Also, I skipped the wine which makes this recipe very suitable for kids. The wine definitely adds a specific taste to the real Bolognese but in my opinion, it is not mandatory. Anyhow, you will feel the taste without the wine once you will make it by yourself. 🙂

  • 500g minced meat

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 3-4 shallots

  • 5cm piece of green celery

  • 2 medium carrots

  • Peel and finely chop the shallots, peel and dice the carrots into smaller cubes, and chop the green celery.
  • Meanwhile, heat up a deeper saucepan and add the butter and olive oil. Add the shallots and roast for 3-4 minutes. Then add the carrots and cook for several minutes. Once the carrots are “medium done” add the chopped celery and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Place in the minced meat, break up into smaller pieces and roast until it will turn brown from all the sides, then lower the heat to minimum and pour in the tomato passata and the tomato puree. Stir well.
  • Cook uncovered for 15 minutes. Season with salt to taste.
  • Serve with wholewheat spaghetti and grated Parmesan on top.
  • Enjoy 🙂
